Hall of Fame Tennis Coach Jack Schore, coach of four top-50 professionals and countless junior champions, leads one of the nation’s most intensive championship training groups at the Montgomery TennisPlex. All students play competitive sets daily while being coached in tactics and strategy, drill in game situations, and receive fitness training from highly qualified coaches. Geared toward tournament-level players seeking a 10 month training program from fall to spring for up to 7 days/week, this program is open to players by invitation or tryout.
-
The tennis training groups consist of three to four players of similar age, who will be trained and supervised by a coach-mentor. Depending on the training period, practices will consist of variations of dead-ball drilling, live-ball hitting, situational point play, and match play. The timing of these cycles will be different for different players in the program, and the mentor-coach will ensure that each player is maximizing their training time.
Players are expected to maintain a tennis journal that the mentor-coach will check periodically, to help track the training and progress of each player.
JSI Program practices will be on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays from 4pm-7pm and 5-8pm as well as Saturdays and Sundays from 2pm-5pm. Players will have the opportunity to train 1x, 2x, 3x, 4x or 5x per week over the 10-month program season.
Limited spots for each training group! Slots will be filled on a first-come-first-serve basis.
PLEASE NOTE: Our JSI directors will finalize the training groups by early August 2025. If we need to move your child to another training group, you will be notified via email.

TennisPlex’s goal is to identify highly motivated young people and equip them with the tools to develop their talents on the tennis court. Training is overseen by Jack Schore, Montgomery TennisPlex Founder, Craig Anderson, Director of the JSI Program. Other JSI Coaches are Shelley DeLon, Dasha Lennox and Matthew Lennox.

Mirroring the tennis training, the intensity, focus, and duration of the physical training varies depending on the period of training in our players’ tournament cycle.
Strength and Conditioning consists of:
speed and agility
strengthening
endurance
tennis specific footwork exercises
balance exercises
dynamic and static stretching
flexibility and injury prevention
Our goal is to build student strength, flexibility, endurance, speed and reaction. We will educate athletes on the importance of a complete fitness plan that includes on/off court training, rest/recovery, injury prevention and nutrition. We have developed a curriculum that will challenge students through educational seminars, high intensity, endurance, circuit and resistance training. After students complete this program they will have a better understanding of a complete fitness plan. In addition, students will have more discipline, body awareness, balance, reaction and quickness. Additionally, we are pleased to offer yoga sessions led by a professional yoga instructor to improve players’ flexibility, strength, and body control.

Parent Support (Tennis Triangle of Support)
The interpersonal relationships between the parent, coach and athlete are often referred to as the athletic triangle. Frequently, the parent is seen as a secondary object or a distraction that may inherently negatively affect player development through their involvement. Here, we involve our players’ parents as part of the process of the development of their child. It is important to have all three parties involved: players, coaches and parents. Communication is key to anyone’s success and at the TennisPlex we are committed to achieving this goal with our players and parents.
